Hello, and welcome to Grace by the Book! My name is Grace (surprise, surprise) and I created this blog as a dumping ground for my various projects, musings, and daily life. I like to think of this as my hodgepodge project job.

I am an actor, writer, filmmaker, hand-crafter, wife, and mother. While I look forward to sharing my pursuits, I am equally thrilled to share what I’ve learned, and inspire you to live creatively.

My web series, Library Freaks, won Best Teen Drama at the Baltimore Web Fest.

What’s in a name?

I love to read and I love to write. My love of literature has infiltrated itself into my entire life, and I tend to think in metaphors and chapters. The play on words “by the book” has some irony to it; I don’t do much of anything by the book, preferring to fly by the seat of my pants but I also like to read anything I can get my hands on and will read a multitude of books on whatever I’m currently doing/working on. You can usually tell what’s going on in my life by glancing at my bookshelf/most recent library receipt.

This is a blog about creative living, filmmaking, and achieving your dreams, but my life is naturally composed of so much more. Here are some of the “flavors” that might creep in:

  • friendship (check out my amazingly talented friends)
  • eco-conscious
  • sister-obsessed
  • enneagram (I’m a 4)
  • motherhood
  • debt-ridden
  • wifedom
  • military spouse life
  • design-obsessed
  • fitness/image/beauty (not necessarily passions, but important for the acting biz)
  • blogging/social media-self-promoting
  • thrifting/antiquing/general treasure hunting
